BEYOND THE FEED: WHY CREATOR CONTENT IS BECOMING A BRAND’S MOST VALUABLE ASSET

Influencer marketing is entering a new era, and it looks very different from what we’ve seen before. Gone are the days when working with influencers was simply about generating reach and brand visibility. The industry is evolving, and brands that still treat creator content as something that lives and dies on an influencer’s feed risk falling behind those already thinking bigger.

There are two common challenges that influencer marketing can help brands solve: how do we demonstrate authentic product use in a culturally relevant way, and how do we make marketing budgets work harder?

The first step is recognising that creator content doesn’t have to stop working when the organic campaign ends. Influencer content is more versatile than ever, with opportunities to repurpose it across email marketing, paid ads, press outreach, blogs, product listings and more. It’s no longer just an organic influencer video; it’s a reusable brand asset that can be planned from the outset to work across owned, earned, shared and paid channels.

And the reason this content is so valuable goes beyond its versatility. It brings a level of authenticity that traditional brand creative often struggles to achieve.

Consumers are experiencing AI fatigue and craving authenticity more than ever. Creators have become trusted voices within their communities, cutting through the AI-generated content audiences encounter every day. And authenticity isn’t just a creative preference; it’s a driver of brand trust. Edelman’s 2025 Brand Trust Report found that 73% of people say their trust in a brand would increase if it authentically reflected today’s culture.

This makes vetting potential creator partners and their communities vital. Businesses need to look beyond follower counts, views and reach to understand whether there’s a genuine connection between the creator, their audience and the brand. After all, cultural relevance can’t be forced, and audiences can spot an inauthentic partnership a mile away.

Brands should be asking themselves: is this someone I genuinely want representing my brand? Does their community respond to product recommendations and paid partnerships? Is there a legitimate connection between my brand and their audience?

But finding the right creator is only half the challenge. The next step is trusting them.

Creators are experts on their audiences. They know which products to select, the hooks to use, and the formats, tone and storytelling that will resonate best. Yet brands commonly fall into the trap of micromanaging partnerships, forcing specific products or messaging into content that doesn’t naturally fit. The result is often a collaboration that feels more like an obvious advertisement than a genuine recommendation.

When brands loosen the reins and give creators the freedom to do what they do best, partnerships have a far better chance of delivering the authenticity and credibility audiences respond to.

And that authenticity has commercial value beyond organic social.

Creator content is particularly well suited to paid media because it looks and feels like the content people have chosen to consume, rather than an interruption from a brand. It also gives brands more creative freedom to test different hooks, creators, edits and messages, while amplifying content through whitelisting and partnership ads.

This shift is already happening. According to CreatorIQ’s 2026–2027 research, 56% of surveyed brands repurpose creator content beyond social media, while its 2026 research found that creator-generated content accounts for 44% of paid media creative among surveyed marketers. These figures highlight how creator content is becoming an increasingly valuable part of the wider marketing mix, moving beyond organic reach to play a bigger role in brands’ advertising strategies.

Suddenly, you’re no longer paying for one creator, one post and one audience. You’re investing in creative that can be tested, adapted and amplified across multiple channels, audiences and stages of the customer journey.

Influencer marketing has moved far beyond paying for a post and hoping it performs. The opportunity now is to find the right creators, trust them to speak to their audiences in a way that feels genuine, and make that content work harder across the entire marketing mix.

The brands that understand this aren’t just buying influence. They’re investing in authentic creative that can keep delivering long after it leaves the feed.
