BLAST OFF FOR THE NEW BAKE OFF: CHANNEL 4 RECORDED BIGGEST AUDIENCE OF 2020

Channel 4 have recorded the biggest audience of 2020 so far with the launch of the latest series of The Great British Bake Off. The launch of the 11th series attracted a peak of 7.9 million viewers from 9.00pm and 9.05pm, with the average audience for the whole episode totaling 6.9 million. The episode also pulled in a 56% share of 16 – 34 year old demographic, making it the biggest show on TV this year for the age group. You can read more about it here.

ITV LAUNCHES NEW INITIATIVE TO REACH YOUNG PEOPLE FROM MORE DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS

ITV have launched a new initiative called Studio 55 Ventures to increase reach among young people. ITV have collaborated with Founders Intelligence to platform talent from diverse background and offer aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to build media and entertainment businesses. ITV are looking to help applicants progress their vision by training and mentoring, plus a £10k start up fund. Find out more here.

BEHIND THE SCREENS: SAMSUNG’S NEW STUDY SHOWS STREAMING SERVICES UP

The new ‘Behind the Screens’ report by Samsung has found more people are watching TV on streaming services than traditional ‘linear’ broadcast programming for the first time. This is despite television watching time increasing both for streaming and linear services, but streaming popularity has grown more rapidly (up 36% compared with a rise of 11% for linear). BBC PARTNERS WITH GALDEM & THE FACE TO INCREASE AWARENESS AROUND SEXUAL CONSENT

The BBC have launched a new partnership with gal-dem and The Face magazines to create a digital title to increase awareness around sexual consent. “The Ins and Outs of Consent is in response to the TV comedy drama series ‘I May Destroy You’ which launched earlier in the year  and centers around the aftermath of a young woman who was sexually assaulted. The digital magazine will resources on charities, qualified therapists and advice. Read more about it here.

MASTERCLASS FROM JACK: JACK AGENCY SHOW OFF CREATIVE OUT-OF-HOME CAMPAIGNS

Finally, members of the Boutique team received a masterclass webinar from Jack Agency, who specialize in creative out-of-home campaigns. The showcase explored how agencies and brands can work together to be creative, bold and unconventional when using outdoor, and how to implement these strategies in the ‘new normal’ outdoor environment.
