Google has rolled out pros and cons mark up for product reviews. Offering significant potential for ecommerce sites, this fresh markup is now available and their rich snippets testing tool has been updated to account for this. A key caveat is that Google may in fact still show pros and cons in listings, even if this new mark up isn’t in place. With this in mind, consider applying this to your key product collections to leverage what is shown in SERPs.

Google has launched its new helpful content update, which has potential to be one of the biggest algorithm updates in over a decade. The helpful content update will penalise content written for search engines over people, with the aim of providing users with high quality, helpful content rather than SEO themed text. Education, shopping, arts and entertainment, and tech sectors are due to be hit hardest by the change, launching week commencing 22nd August.

Microsoft Ads has dropped ads into Outlook Mobile. Whilst users will have been familiar with ads appearing under the ‘Other’ tab in their emails, Microsoft has now begun placing these in focused inboxes. This has generally been met with significant displeasure by users, however this is a feature that has long been seen in Gmail inboxes, with Microsoft simply joining the trend.
