Google removes links to Canadian news

Google announced its decision to remove links to Canadian news from its Search, News, and Discover products in response to Canada’s recently enacted Bill C-18. Bill C-18, known as the Online News Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in Canada to regulate digital intermediaries such as search engines and social media platforms that disseminate news content, addressing the relationship between these digital platforms and news businesses.

Google launches new search feature

Google are introducing a new search feature called ‘perspectives’ – this new search function will provide users which results from social channels, Q&A forums and informative blog content, giving users more diverse opinions from different sources on their search query. Roll out is currently only in the US, but there are plans for a UK release in the near future.
