Did you know 84 men in the UK take their own lives each week? Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. Shocking, isn’t it?
That's why we've decided to take on the epic challenge of trekking Yorkshire's infamous Three Peaks. On 7th June, we'll embark on the 24-mile route, hiking up Yorkshire’s Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Inglebrorough peaks. The aim is to raise £1,000 for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), the charity dedicated to preventing male suicide. This money will help keep the charity’s call centre running for one night.
Here's a little note from our MD Simon Bollon on why we were spurred into taking on the challenge, “With 84 men taking their own lives each week we’d really like to do something about it. That figure is pretty staggering and desperately sad. If we can raise enough money for CALM to pay for the call centre to be open for one night, we might just do our bit to get that number down by one. Putting business on hold for a day to save a life is a sacrifice worth making.”
